Bit of a strange move for me with the news that Didier Drogba has left China and headed to Turkey to join the giants Galatasaray. The side now boasts the likes of Johan Elmander, Felipe Melo, Wesley Sneijder, Milan Baros and of course Emmanuel Eboué. Someone tweeted recently “With Galatasaray signing Drogba and Sneijder they will have to be amongst the favourites for the 2010 Champions league”, a dig at their signings of players whom in 2010 may have been at the peak of their power.
Drogba (and Anelka’s) moves to Shanghai didn’t work out with the club in all sorts of problems – the money wasn’t really there to pay the players the wages owed, and so now Anelka has gone to Juventus whilst Drogba’s arrived in Turkey. Will be great to watch Galatasarary in the future, they’ll probably be quite a force to play in the Champions League too.
