Liverpool Fc have signed Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United for £25 million.
The 25-year-old former Feyenoord player has signed a 5 year-deal at Anfield.
“I’m really excited because Liverpool is a big club with a great history and it’s always a dream to play for as big a club as Liverpool,” he told the clubs official website.
The acquisition of Wijnaldum arrives on the same day Liverpool announced the signing of 39-year-old former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger on a short-term deal.
Last season, his first in the Premier League, the attacking midfielder scored 11 goals in 38 appearances for the Magpies but could not prevent the Toon Army from avoiding relegation. Four of his eleven goals came in a 6-2 thrashing of Norwich at St James’ Park back in October 2015.
The former Dutch Footballer of the year joined Newcastle from PSV Eindhoven in July 2015 for 14.5m.
