Whenever you pick a squad for the world cup the first thing people always see is the amount of strike force they have and the amount of well known top class players are there in the attacking department. And people would have surely noticed the strike force literally missing in the Germany national squad. Their only out and out striker being Miroslav Klose.
No team has gone to the World cup without the presence of at least two strikers. Even Spain who play with no strikers have taken two in their squad for Brazil. Basically he announced four strikers in the provisional Germany squad for the world cup and many believed at least two will get the nod. But Joachim Löw has decided against all the odds and has settled with Klose to do all the scoring.
Rest of the team consists of attacking players who can fill in the boots of a striker. But at the world cup you need a real striker not a part time striker. And everyone thought Volland will be going to Brazil because he is very strong and could very well pose a challenge for all the highly rated defenders in the world. But dropping Volland from the Germany squad will be a huge blow for Germany.
I personally am a huge fan of him and I am not able to digest this fact because Klose is out of form recently and when you can take a player out of form to the World cup why not take a player who is just 21 years of age and who has been in fine form for his club to the World cup.
Whatever people tell me I cannot accept this from a national team coach and I hope he realizes his mistake soon because he will regret dropping Volland. It is better late than never because I don’t think trusting in Muller, Reus, even though Reus is a transfer target for Manchester United, as a striker will bring success to Germany.
