Hakan Calhanoglu Scores Masterclass Freekick vs. Dortmund

It was a memorable night for Turkish attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, as his Hamburger SV side pasted German high-flyers Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg on Saturday, with the home side in front and in-charge throughout the match. Calhanoglu himself was quite splendid for the “Red Shorts” on the day, with his 90th minute wonder-goal sealing the shock victory for Hamburg, who snap a 7 game losing skid with the win and give new manager Mirko Slomka a victory in his first game in charge of the struggling Bundesliga side, who currently sit 16th in the table on 19 points, just 4 points ahead of bottom club Braunschweig in 18th.

Regardless, here is the goal in all its Earth-shattering glory. A stunning free kick from 45 or so meters out that seemingly floats over the head of Dortmund ‘keeper Roman Weidenfeller and in, with Dortmund  immediately regretting the decision not to put a wall up in front of Calhanoglu’s effort. But, then again, who would have thought it necessary…

Even Jurgen Klopp was impressed!
