England fans have finally made the conclusion that Owen Hargreaves was the most impressive of the lot in the England team as he edged out Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, David Beckham and John Terry with 35,000 votes to become the fans choice for the best player at the World Cup 2006.
I think it is well deserved, he was the most consistent of all, and maybe..just maybe playing in Germany where he plays his club footy with Bayern has helped him to be mentally more alert than the others in the team.
Champions League-winner Hargreaves told the FA’s website: “Any time you can have the public’s support is great. Obviously before the World Cup I got a taste of the other side of it but it’s far better to be on the positive side of it.
“They just said thank you which is the best thing you can really say to someone.”

no he wasnt. he had one good game. his passing was average at best. his positioning was pretty bad until the game against portugal. he put in an immense effort in the quarter final but its not as if any of his team mates were trying that hard to match it.
demichelis is picked ahead of him at bayern and he didnt even get into the argentina squad.
