The quarter finals of the league cup were underway tonight, with Sunderland at home to Chelsea and Manchester City away at Championship side Leicester.
In the Stadium of Light, Chelsea went in front with a goal from Frank Lampard just after half-time, Sunderland left it late with, former blue, Fabio Borini to take it to extra time. After an end to end game it was Sunderland’s Ki Sung-Yueng scoring in the 118 minute sending the black cats to the semi finals.
In Leicester, it was more routine as Manuel Pellegrini’s side cruised through with a 1-3 win as Edin Dzeko bagged a brace after Kolarov put the sky blues in front. Leicester did manage to grab a late equaliser from Lloy Dyer but it proved to be just a conciliation goal.
In tomorrows quarter finals, Stoke face a tough game at home to Manchester United while West Ham take on Tottenham at White Heart Lane.
