It has been announced that one of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Andres Iniesta will be the winner of the 2012 Baloon d’Or. The La Liga trio are undoubtedly 3 of the best players in Europe right now, so any one of these 3 are more than qualified to lift this trophy.
This years nomination list seemed a bit of a joke – Balotelli was included, as well as Rooney and Yaya Toure. Thankfully the best 3 players have progressed through to the final. The trophy will be awarded on January the 7th. Messi is the bookies favourite with his goalscoring prowess reaching new levels in recent weeks, with the player just a handful of goals off Gerd Muller’s record of 85 goals for club and country. Ronaldo as ever will be looking to rival Messi, and Iniesta will be in with a chance too.
