Dortmund’s Mkhitaryan Could Still Move to Manchester United

Dortmund's Mkhitaryan Could Move to Manchester United

Despite Dortmund’s insistence that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be sold, there is a good chance that Manchester United could seal a deal this summer.

With Marco Reus suffering from another injury and Ilkay Gundogan signing for City, the Bundesliga club has already seen their midfield weaken.

Mkhitaryan’s agent has insisted that he is still working towards landing a deal and the players preferred club has not changed.

His agent told The Times “He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation,”

The chief executive (Hans-Joachim Watzke) of Dortmund has continually stressed the fact they will refuse to acknowledge Mkhitaryan, whose contract finishes in 2017 – leaving the club early.

“We have been negotiating with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months for him to extend his contract with us,” he said.

“Now we know that it is not extended, it was never our commitment that Mkhitaryan may leave us prematurely.

“We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer in all club bodies and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay in Dortmund next season.”

Since being in charge at Old Trafford Jose Mourinho has repeatedly reminded fans that he is working hard to form his first team.

The first signing of the summer was defender Eric Bailly when he joined from Villareal, he said “I want to progress to be the best that I can be and I believe working with Jose Mourinho will help me develop in the right way and at the right club.

“I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to starting this new chapter of my life.”
