Manchester United’s chances of retaining their Premier League crown took another blow at the weekend as a late Southampton equaliser saw them fall further behind the frontrunners.
David Moyes’ side appeared to have the points in the bag with time running out at Old Trafford, only for Adam Lallana to tap home from close range to increase the pressure on the United boss.
The 1-1 draw left the Red Devils in eighth, level on points with Hull City. While the season is only eight games old, it has been a worrying start to Moyes’ reign for fans who bet on football.
United had a poor summer in the transfer market and were left behind by their rivals, who strengthened significantly.

City’s 3-1 win was particularly impressive, although you can take nothing away from Arsenal, who made it six wins in seven games against Norwich City.
The Gunners are two points clear of Chelsea and Liverpool at the top, with City a further point behind. For Manchester United, the gap is already eight points.
Arsenal have been excellent so far and have one of the world’s best players in Mesut Ozil, who has made such a difference since his arrival from Real Madrid.
