Predictions: The Premier League Top Eight

An opinionated prediction on who will finish where in the top eight.

Who will Finish Where? Predictions and Opinions.

It can be argued that this years Barclays Premier League season has been exciting for many fans as well as some what shocking for many others. (Especially Manchester United fans) but it comes to a point where many footy fans begin to draw ever closer to picking the teams who they believe. Will finish in the top eight of this years 2013/2014 premier league season.

Now this prediction is my own, with some aspects of opinions shared by friends and family as well. so your opinions and predictions are very much welcome for discussion and debate. It all makes the final third of the season much better.

Here is the current Premier League Table for those who are unaware of the current standings.

Manchester City

Prediction: 1stMCFC 1

Manchester City are enjoying a brilliant season. They boast a squad full of world-class talent and I believe posses the best attack and defence in the league.

Manuel Pellegrini first season is guaranteed to finish in champions league football next year. And with him keeping hold of Agüero, David Silva, Joe Hart and Džeko. as well as signing class in Joveti? and Negredo. It looks like their are aiming to get their second title within 3 seasons, beating Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to it as well.

Prediction: 2ndLiverpool FC HD Wallpaper 3

This was a tough call, it was between Liverpool and Chelsea, but when comparing these two sides, I see Liverpool better in all departments. They have the best partnership up front in the league. And with Suarez and Sturridge scoring for fun this season, it is not hard to see why they are in the bid to possibly overtake Man City.

Brendan Rodgers has done well to keep hold of Suarez, even after the striker had a season to remember and to forget last year. With the likes of Coutinho, Gerrard, Lucas and Sterling in the Midfield. Liverpool have the best chance of finishing their highest under Rodgers, and have a Champions League place in the bag next season.

Chelsea 1

Prediction: 3rd

Jose Mourinho. The Special One looks to return to his old ways and bring Chelsea back to the top of the Premier League. With sacking after sacking since he departed in 2007. The early 2013/2014 season looked a dead set for that to happen.

Sadly, he has been inefficient in his signing this year. The signing of Samuel Eto’o proves this, as it shadows the signings of Willian and the loan signing of Victor Moses and other addition to the Blues squad. Performances as well have been hit and miss. With some easy wins escaping their grasp. Competing with in form Liverpool and Man City will be a challenge. But top four is certain.

Prediction: 4thAFC 1

Arsene Wenger has survived season after season of no trophies, with his star assets finding silverware elsewhere, the beginning of this season looked to be another season of disappointment.

But deadline day brought the signing of the season. German and Liga BBVA Star Mesut Özil shocked everyone, and showed fighting spirit from the Gunners, that this season could finally be the one. As well as Giroud and Santi Carzorla being the arsenal stars of the future, as well as Ramsey and Wilshire at their peaks. This season sees the best Gunners squad in years. and maybe next year we shall see them back at the top of the league.

Tottenham Hotspur & Manchester United

Prediction 5th and 6th respective.

Now before people ask why I put these two together, it is not because I am lazy. no, but these two share the same situation as one another. (Ok Manchester United being more in trouble then Spurs) but comparisons make these two easy to evaluate but inseparable in the league.

Both lost key people to their squads (Gareth Bale and Sir Alex Ferguson) and with this saw huge changes within both squads. Spurs bought an entire new squad with the money from Bale. While United have brought Premier League experience as well as youth talent to Moyes’s New United. but this has in my view. made both teams unbalanced and unformed to really compete to finish in the top four, but give it till next season and they will return to old ways, for so for United.

Prediction: 7thEFC 1

Roberto Martínez has had a brilliant season at a club which is not relegation contender like Wigan. (Sorry Latic Fans) With an amazing start to the season, they looked like a black horse in contention for the title, but with time. The Toffees have settled into a Europa league position, which suits a club with potential to maybe be at a level competitor like their rivals Liverpool.

With Player like Arouna Koné, Kevin Mirallas, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku, Everton have a squad which stand at European potential. Martínez could lead Everton to a age of trophies. which are at a grasp away.

Prediction: 8thSFC 1

This is a shout out by myself. But Southampton have really settled into being a Premier league side, still having the squad left by Nigel Atkins. Mauricio Pochettino has really got the Saints playing a good standard of football,. With a squad gifted with players who arrived in the Old Npower League 1, too international quality signed in the top flight.

It has been such a good past few years for the Saints, it feels right for them to finish within the top eight. It was tough to separate them form Newcastle. but Southampton have the quality which Newcastle now lack. and maybe this is the start of a long life in the top flight for the Saints.

Tough as it was to think this though without being told different by my University Mates. It seems weird not to see United in the top four, as well as top five teams all in contention to challenge for the title. And with United out the way. I do declare that a we will see a different team to lift that prestigious title this year.

I would also like to know everyone else predictions. As I plan to release an overall Premier League table of all the clubs predicted positions before the end of the season.
