It was easy pickings for Liverpool at Anfield today as they cruised past West Brom 4-1 with striker Luis Suarez scoring a hat-trick of goals in a prolific display from the Liverpool front line. The first penetration of the Baggies’ backline came after just 12 minutes when Suarez collected a Kolo Toure pass before nutmegging his way into shooting range and firing past exposed West Brom keeper Boaz Myhill to open the scoring.
The Uruguayan then grabbed his brace 5 minutes later by way of a powerful header from the edge of the box, that’s right, the EDGE OF THE BOX as Myhill was this time beaten at his near post. A 3rd was always on the card for Suarez and he duly obliged with another header in the second half, this one coming from a curling Steven Gerrard free kick that flew into goal past an out of position Myhill. The Baggies clawed a rather irrelevant goal back through a James Morrison spot kick before Daniel Sturridge produced a spectacular 25 yard chip of Myhill to whip the Kop End into a frenzy and cap the scoring on Liverpool’s day in the sun, literally and figuratively.
