Manchester City appeared to quell any initial Champions League fears under Manuel Pellegrini with an impressive 3-0 road victory today over Czech Republic side Viktoria Plzen. The hosts actually managed to hold serve through the first half at the 11,700 person capacity Doosan Arena, holding the score line at 0-0 into the halftime interval. The break gave enough time for Pellegrini’s men to regroup though, and the Citizens strategized their way to a goal just 3 minutes after the half, with Sergio Aguero taking in a long ball before powering past his defender and setting Edin Dzeko up on a platter for the Bosnian to place home and give City the lead. 5 minutes later the tie was effectively put to bed with Yaya Toure uncorking a hell of a shot that curled and swirled and dipped and dodged and divulged its way into the top corner to make it 2-0 in a highlight for the AGES. City then added a 3rd to cap their scoring frenzy in the 58th with Aguero getting a goal to go with his assist as City scored 3 goals in 10 minutes to quell a rambunctious Czech crowd at take all 3 points in Plzen (all while wearing some spiffy new kits…).
