Dirk The Turk

Dirk Kuyt has today ended a 6 year association with Liverpool football club with the news that he will be signing for Turkish giants Fenerbache for £1 million. The 31 year old is leaving just as new manager Brendan Rogers arrives, but he has assured fans that it is nothing to do with the change in management.

As a Manchester United follower I think Kuyt is probably my favourite Liverpool player, simply because of his crazy work rate and never-give-up attitude. He may not be the best footballer technically, but he more than makes up for this with his work ethic. Rarely does he seem to trot around the football pitch, he works his socks off and has scored some vital goals for the club in his 207 appearances (51 goals in total so about a 1 in 4 return, not bad for a winger).

Kuyt moves on to Turkey to play for his 4th club, whom finished the league in 2nd position, losing out to winners Galatasaray.
