Manchester United are close to a second major signing this summer as they increase the bid to £28m for Borussia Dortmund forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford this summer.
United initially lodged an initial £19m offer last week, however, according to the Daily Mirror, they have upped their bid by £8m, which is close to the reported asking price of £31m as the final stages are being negotiated.
With a contract that determinates in a year, Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola is making it clear to the media that the move is what his client wants.
This past week Raiola has said “Manchester (United) are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means,”
“It would be a sin to stop talking.
“If I wasn’t confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn’t try.
“Manchester United is a unique opportunity, Micki wants to go there.
“He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation.”
Ahead of the new Premier League season, finalising yet another deal after the current £31m capture of Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly would be a major declaration of intent for United.
