So today is the big day – the FA Cup final showdown between Chelsea and Liverpool, being shown live from Wembley stadium and being broadcast all around the world to billions of football fans.

Chelsea and Liverpool have a habit of meeting each other in very important football matches, with both teams lining up in important semi finals of the Champions League in the past decade. Liverpool probably have the edge in Champions League games recently, but its Chelsea who are performing best in the Premier League where they are several positions above Liverpool who’ve really struggled for consistency under Kenny Dalgish this season.

Chelsea stumbled in their previous game which was against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, in which Cisse scored 2 absolutely spectacular goals for his Newcastle side to overtake Chelsea and take 5th position in the league currently. Roberto Di Matteo has worked wonders at the club since taking over from Villas-Boas, and he could really cement his position as manager for next season with a win over Liverpool.

Liverpool have had their own problems this season and an FA Cup trophy would give manager Dalglish a much needed boost from the fans and the media who have been on his back recently. The club spent big in the summer but have failed to mount any kind of bid on the league, so this cup is now all they have left to play for.

This should make for an entertaining match between two sides with all to play for, for me Chelsea are probably the favourites to lift the FA Cup but as cliche as it sounds its anyone’s trophy, and anything can and does usually happen in the FA Cup.
Kick off in the FA Cup final between Chelsea vs Liverpool should be at 5.15pm.
