The Team

footy news blog

FootyBlog is a blog dedicated to the Beautiful Game, ran by football fans around the world (but in particular the home of football – the UK).

We aim to take a light-hearted look at football, whether it’s the latest news from the Premier League, any big transfer stories happening around the world, a look at tactics and analysis of matches, and even some ways to save a little beer money from following your team.

We’re always on the lookout for talented writers who enjoy talking or writing about football, and will reply to any writer enquiries here.

Who’s Behind Footy Blog

Matt

Matt (Head Coach / Editor)

Matt is the owner of the site and has been running it since 2005. Although he might consider himself the brains of the site, it definitely wouldn’t be where it is today without the brilliance of the writers who work tirelessly to produce great content on a very regular basis. Matt works as a digital marketer and tries to use this expertise to enable the site reaches as large-an-audience as possible. Outside of his love of football (despite being a Southerner he also follows Man United – typical glory supporter) he enjoys hiking and foraging for wild food.

Kelly at Stamford Bridge

Kelly Burge (Intern/Part-time Writer)

Kelly has recently graduated from Flagler College in Florida with a bachelors degree in journalism. She has been studying journalism for four years on a full tennis scholarship. She has had a season ticket at Chelsea for over 10 years and is most definitely in love with the club. Even her middle name is Chelsea. She is hoping to gain experience as a writer and hopefully pursue her dreams of working for Sky Sports on TV or as a reporter. Outside of football, Kelly has played tennis since the age of 6. Competing for Surrey and playing at a high collegiate level in the United States.

Nathan Hill (Midfield / Part-time Writer )

Nathan is a journalism student at the University of Lincoln and is currently in his seventh full season as a season ticket holder at Norwich City. In those seven years, he has seen just about everything – League One, the Championship and the Premier League, back-to-back promotions, relegations, a successful play-off campaign, a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat and even Ricky van Wolfswinkel’s one and only league goal in yellow and green! Whilst at uni, he has also developed a soft spot for Lincoln City. He has been writing for the site for just over two years, providing his (often very strong) opinions on all things regarding the beautiful game. Outside of real football, he can be found playing a virtual version of it on his Xbox One – to a very mediocre standard.
