So unfortunately for Bolton Wanderers there status in the Premier League has come down to this, a match at the Britannia stadium in which they need to pick up 3 points, bound to be a tall order for a side that has struggled for consistency in the league.
Stoke City have nothing to play for in this match, so at least thats one positive for Owen Coyle’s Bolton side, so they may have thoughts elsewhere – perhaps on there pre-season holidays. Bolton’s players will not be thinking of their own holidays however, they should all be totally focussed on a win in order to stay in the Premier League for another season.
Bolton have another problem in the way of the QPR vs Man City result, as a draw or win for QPR here would effectively relegate them. So Bolton need to pick up 3 points against Stoke and hope that QPR don’t get a result against a Man City team looking to win the Premier League title for the first time in their history.
Stoke City vs Bolton should be a great match, a very physical battle with lots of goal mouth action, probably a real throwback to old english football. Both teams have some very physical players, with Bolton’s talisman Kevin Davies up against Thomas Sorensen in goal for Stoke.
I’ve enjoyed watching Bolton during there time in the Premier League, especially last season with the likes of Elmannder and Petrov, but somethings been lacking this time around, maybe the exit of Cahill distracted a lot of the players, but I still feel that they have enough talent to avoid the drop, and its likely that QPR aren’t able to get any points against City so Bolton still have their future in their hands.
